Sandro Schneebeli Quartet „Scala Nobile“ (CH)

Since many years, the Quartet «Scala Nobile» with Sandro Schneebeli is a great success. The two CD’s «Uomo Bianco» (2003) and «Scala Nobile» (2009) have found excellent popularity with both the critics and the public audience. «Scala Nobile» has made the jump to Number 1 in the Topfive-ranking of new releases (http://www.musicwyler.ch ) www.musicwyler.ch even ahead of R. Towner and P. Fresu).

On extended tours, acclaimed club concerts and memorable appearances at the Estival Jazz Lugano, at the BeJazz Winter Festival or at the Olympic Games in Athens, the group has proven that they can bring any audience into their spell. On invitation by the Estival Jazz Lugano, Sandro Schneebeli (guitar), Antonello Messina (accordion), Dudu Penz (bass), Stephan Rigert (percussion) and Samuel Baur (Drums) will tour next summer with two illustrious guests:
To the group will come the world famous wood blower Paul McCandless (USA) who, as the mainstay of the cult quartet Oregon, doesn’t need an individual introduction. Whether on Oboe, English horn, bass clarinet or soprano saxophone, his virtuous and empathetic playing has enchanted large audiences around the globe for years. As a second addition for the planned tour comes on board the fantastic Swiss multi Vocalist Bruno Amstad. He is well known from his collaboration with Phil Minton, John Zorn, Christy Doran and the Asita Hamidi's BAZAAR. Both guest musicians fit congenially into the sound concept of «Scala Nobile», so that an explosive mix is created which guarantees inspiring concerts and fiery music.

Sandro Schneebeli’s compositions touch with their poetry and catchiness, but at the same time are full of energy and invite the musicians to solo highlights and virtuoso improvisations. The band plays sensitive music for body and soul. Now, for the first time, seven individuals come together to form a dynamic, energy laden sound body whose vibrations will transfer to the audience and whisk them into a fascinating musical world.

All involved have already made a name for themselves with their own projects. The fact that they put themselves into the service of a project for this tour is a stroke of luck and a quality seal of first class. Very seldom do so many standing leader personalities bring that much experience and skill into a joint project. And since nobody is to the fore, with reason you may look forward to dazzling music.
